Dr. Mark A. Ellis Sr. is a visionary leader, esteemed business practitioner, and evangelist who has made a profound impact on individuals from diverse backgrounds and races. With a strong foundation in business administration, Dr. Ellis graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and further honed his expertise through Executive MBA Certificates from Columbia University of NY and Darden Business School of VA. Complementing his business acumen, he pursued theological education at Interdenominational Theological Center and SB Seminary, earning a Doctorate of Divinity in 2006. In recognition of his commitment to excellence, Dr. Ellis obtained a Non-Profit Leadership Certificate from Boston College in 2018.
Dr. Ellis answered his call to ministry in 1996 and achieved ordination in 2000. In 2001, he founded United Christian Faith Ministries in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which has flourished under his compassionate and unwavering leadership, now boasting over 2000 members and 40 active ministries.
Within the Church of God In Christ, Inc., Dr. Ellis has held various influential positions. Notably, he was appointed by Presiding Bishop Charles Blake and the General Board as Chairman of the Board and CEO for the Church of God In Christ Publishing House and Bookstore from 2012 to 2017. Presently, Dr. Ellis serves as the esteemed President of the COGIC International Sunday School Department.
Dr. Ellis brings a wealth of business experience to his ministry and leadership roles. With over 20 years in Sales and Marketing, he held the position of Vice President of Sales and Operations at Pitney Bowes Inc., a Fortune 500 Company based in Stamford, CT, until his retirement in June 2015. Additionally, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of the historic Rainbow Push Coalition Inc. in Chicago, IL, in 2016. Leveraging his expertise, Dr. Ellis provides private business consultation to small and medium-sized organizations, empowering them in talent development, organizational alignment, sales and revenue growth, as well as customer satisfaction and retention.
In recognition of his commitment to community and social causes, Dr. Ellis actively serves on several boards, ProSeed, Inc. (a non-profit organization building schools in West Africa), and the Louisiana Board of Ethics, where he was appointed by Governor John Bel Edwards. Furthermore, he is an esteemed member of the Baton Rouge Police Foundations.
Dr. Ellis is happily married to Mary S. Ellis, and together, they are raising four wonderful children.
